The RSPCA has confirmed that Kurt Zouma will face charges after kicking and slapping his pet.
Zouma and his brother, Yoan, will face charges under the 2006 Animal Welfare Act as a result of a video that went viral on social media last month.
“Following a comprehensive investigation, we have begun the process of prosecuting Kurt Zouma and Yoan Zouma under the Animal Welfare Act,”
An RSPCA spokeswoman stated. The RSPCA is still looking after the two animals. Once a court date is established, we will be able to provide more details.”
Dagenham & Redbridge, Yoan Zouma’s club, has previously stated that he was being investigated for filming the video.
Meanwhile, West Ham has stated that they have been complying with the RSPCA’s inquiry and that the cats have sustained no physical injury.
“West Ham United is aware of the RSPCA statement in relation to its inquiry involving Kurt Zouma,” a spokeswoman said. Kurt continues to work tirelessly with the club’s support.
Kurt’s cats, according to our information, have been examined by a veterinarian, are healthy, and have sustained no physical damage. For the time being, neither Kurt nor the club will make any more statements for legal reasons.”
Zouma’s Adidas shoe sponsorship has also ended. “We have conducted our investigation and can confirm Kurt Zouma is no longer an Adidas contracted athlete,” an Adidas representative said.
