Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has urged the club’s board to sign Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku this summer.
According to Todo Fichajes, Arsenal is lining up a bid for the France international. The striker is valued at around €70million, and he could leave the German club this summer.
Nkunku has scored 27 goals and contributed 12 assists in all competitions this season, demonstrating exceptional versatility in attacking positions.
The 24-year-old has been deployed in various positions during his professional career, having played as a striker, a play-maker, a winger, and even as a wing-back.
Mikel Arteta has long been in need of a creative, dangerous attacker, and could be set to finally sign one.
The Gunners are clearly concerned about the future of their forward line, with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah coming to the ends of their contracts this summer.
Manchester United are also interested in signing Nkunku, a player who could replace the aging Cristiano Ronaldo.
While Edinson Cavani, a free agent this summer, is likely to move due to his contract expiring.
If Arsenal finishes 4th above United, Nkunku will likely move to Arsenal. However, it is possible that both teams will miss out after Tottenham defeated Aston Villa on Saturday.
It seems unlikely that the Leipzig forward would be willing to join either Arsenal or Manchester United if both clubs fail to make the Champions league next season.
