A Raphael Varane injury update has been provided by Man United, with the defender now set to miss some time.
Manchester United’s injury situation is more than just bad luck. Whatever’s happening at the AON Training Complex simply isn’t working. Erik ten Hag has been keen to not use it as an excuse, though he must take some of the blame.
The Dutch manager has used 20+ different defensive partnerships this season, which is the area that has been hit the hardest by treatment table woes. Apparently, those issues are not letting up anytime soon.
Today, the club has provided an injury update on Raphael Varane, who came off against Chelsea a week or so ago. The key man is set to miss the ‘next few weeks’ with a muscle injury.
Although Varane is aiming to be back before the end of the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if the club decide to just shut him down at this point. He’s been suffering niggling injuries all campaign long, while the fact he simply cannot play more than one game a week is becoming a real problem.
The ex-Real Madrid man is now getting up there in age and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to let him walk for free this coming summer.
He’s an unreal defender when fully fit and healthy. Sadly, his fitness is a major part of his game. Availability is reliability and United cannot count on him in that regard.
Perhaps a move back to his homeland to see out his career would make sense, or if he fancies one big payday, I’m sure Varane would have plenty of suitors in the Saudi league.
Get well soon, Rapha.
