Not the best week for Manchester City fans as we now head in to another match this weekend, this time in the FA Cup. On that note, we heard from pep Guardiola who had a lot to say after the elimination.
“We have no other option,” he said.
“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. In football you lose games. We performed at our best and we could not win.
“We will reflect in the summer about what happened during the season. You compete to win.
“It hasn’t happened many times in the last seasons but sometimes you lose games. That’s what happened.”
“They [Real Madrid] are an incredible team and we were absolutely outstanding from the first minute to 120 plus penalties,” he said.
“We were really good, we lost by a margin on penalties 4-3. You have to accept it. We were good, good enough no.
“The team is always there. I’m so proud. I’d love to be there in the Champions League, unfortunately we are not.
“We did everything. They know it, we know it, but it was not enough. We congratulate them and tomorrow, FA Cup.”
“I don’t know I’m not a doctor. He said a little bit niggles and we’ll see his evolution in the next hours.
“It was a tough game [against Madrid]. 120 mins of action. High intensity for both sides. Erling felt something. A muscular issue that meant he could not continue.
“Kevin was exhausted after five months out injured. That is normal. We will see tomorrow.
“It’s normal. The number of games this season and previous seasons, not much recovery and extra time and high intensity the way we play.
“We put a lot of pressure in our game. They are human beings, not machines and sometimes fatigue is there.”
A tough match and some rotation is expected, we’ll see how the team gets on.
