Terms have still to be finalized, but according to The Mirror, Haaland is expected to sign a five-year contract with City that will pay him £400,000 per week plus bonuses after passing a medical on Monday.
With a slew of Europe’s biggest teams lining up to recruit the Norway international, the deal putting an end to months of speculation.
On his way to prominence, Haaland broke a number of domestic and European records, including becoming the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach half a century of goals.
Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea are all thought to be monitoring the situation, thus the former Red Bull Salzburg player has chosen to join the Premier League’s current holders.
Halaand junior will play for City, following in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge, who played for the club from 2000 to 2003.
Erling Haaland, a former Molde striker, has exploded onto the international stage in recent years, scoring 134 goals in 182 competitive club appearances.
Not to mention his incredible achievements in the UEFA Champions League, where the 21-year-old scored 20 goals in 14 games, the fastest time in the league.
In a brief statement, the city revealed the news on social media. “Manchester City can confirm that we have achieved an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for forward Erling Haaland’s transfer to the Club on July 1, 2022,” the statement said. “The transfer is contingent on the Club and the player agreeing to terms.”
