Manchester City travel to Brighton needing to win to keep in touch with leaders Arsenal. The Gunners have opened up a gap at the top of the Premier League, but the Blues have two games in hand, starting with a trip to the home of the Seagulls.
City have a decent record on the South Coast, with five wins and one defeat from their last seven visits. Can they keep that going on Thursday?
Here’s what our team think:
Saul
Big match and we, of course, need the win. Expect a mostly fresh side.
Brighton 1-3 City
Dillon
Brighton have one win since the middle of February, so I don’t expect a negative result from De Zerbi’s side.
The four-day rest will also ensure the squad is close to full fitness.
Brighton 0-3 Manchester City 3-0
Craig
Arsenal and Liverpool will be praying that one of these final six teams can take something from the champions, and that may well happen, but I don’t see it being Brighton. A team that wants to come out and play, go head-to-head, and leave it wide open, will surely be punished by City at this stage of the season.
Brighton & Hove Albion 1-3 City
Thomas
A trip to Brighton is never easy, but with the season winding down, and with one hand on the trophy, City head to the AmEx Stadium. The Seagulls’ form has fallen off a bit of late and the Manc Blues can certainly smell the champagne at the finish line. It’ll be a fight, but I’ll take Pep and the lads to collect the crucial three points.
Brighton 1-2 City
Pete
A potentially tricky match where City will concede the obligatory goal, but should hopefully prevail.
Brighton 1-3 City
What Happened Last Time?
City reached the FA Cup final by beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley and set up a tie against the team that should have lost their semi-final in United. Thomas and Pete both went for wins and Pete got the goal difference right. Saul enjoyed the penalty defeat to Madrid so much, he wanted another. Thankfully, he was the only one.
Here’s the table:
