Borussia Dortmund CEO, Joachim Watzke, has confirmed their intention to sign Jadon Sancho on loan from Man United.
Manchester United Football Club need to start trimming down the playing squad sooner rather than later. The Old Trafford side have struggled under Erik ten Hag this season, though he’s utilising some players who don’t fit his system purely because they’re too expensive to move on from.
Slowly but surely, the squad will be streamlined into one that falls directly in line with the way Ten Hag likes to play, though that takes time. Donny van de Beek has already left this transfer window, albeit on loan, with another player set to follow suit.
Just yesterday we covered a claim which stated that Jadon Sancho was being pursued by Borussia Dortmund. Now, those stories have been backed up straight from the horse’s mouth.
Their club CEO, Joachim Watzke, has confirmed his intention to sign the United player on a loan, presumably until the end of the season. Watzke did state that the deal is not done yet, though it is seemingly moving in the right direction.
Here is what Joachim Watzke had to say in full:
“We are in negotiations to sign Jadon Sancho, for sure”. Watzke is quoted as saying by Fabrizio Romano.
“We want to sign him on loan. That’s no secret. But we are not yet ready to announce a done deal”.
At this point, a move away for Sancho is in everyone’s best interests. He hasn’t played for the club since September and has been completely isolated from the first-team squad by Ten Hag.
Sadly, United are still having to pay Sancho’s wages, which does place a real dampener on the situation. No doubt the Reds will have to subsidise Sancho’s earnings during this upcoming loan move, too…
I do hope that the Englishman can get his career back on track when this deal does go through. He’s a talented player. It just hasn’t worked out for him here and he never really saw eye to eye with the current gaffer.
At the end of the day, though, he should never play for this club again, even if this loan does prove to be a successful one. He’s not only disrespecting the manager, but he’s also disrespecting the badge on his chest and the club on the whole.
