Marc Guiu has made a decision on his future and is eager to sign a new contract at Barcelona and fight for a place in the first team.
The striker broke into the first team earlier in the season, scoring against Athletic and Antwerp, but hasn’t really been able to kick on since then.
Yet Diario Sport reckon he’s close to agreeing a contract extension at the club and wants to stay and fight for a place – rather than going out on loan.
Guiu now has Vitor Roque for added competition but is willing to battle with the Brazilian. Indeed Sport reckon it’s not ruled out that Vitor Roque could move on loan in the summer.
Barca were said to have sent contract offers to Guiu, Pau Cubari and Hector Fort last month as they aim to tie all three youngsters to the club.
Xavi’s decision to stay is likely to be good news for Guiu. The coach has shown he’s more than willing to trust his youngsters and the teenager will be hoping he can force his way into the first team next season.
