news does not look goodSergino Dest has been ruled out with a serious knee injury which could see the USMNT star ruled out for nine months.
PSV confirmed the full-back sustained the injury in training at the weekend but suggested they are still thinking about signing him permanently from Barcelona.
However, it’s been speculated that Dest’s injury is so severe he might not be able to play again until next year.
The Athletic are reporting that the Barcelona loanee “could be sidelined for up to nine months” which would be a massive setback for the 23-year-old.
Voetbal International says Dest has torn his cruciate ligament and won’t play again in 2024.
Dest will therefore also miss this summer’s Copa America with the USMNT and a fair chunk of next season too.
The American has been enjoying a strong season with PSV after returning to the Eredivisie on a season-long loan from Barcelona.
The team are currently nine points clear at the top of the table with just four games of the season left to play.
