It is understood that Arsenal’s latest priority is to seal a deal for Wolves winger Pedro Neto before the end of the summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic The North London outfit are now serious about bringing the 22-year-old to the Emirates before the end of the summer window.
However, they are waiting to offload club-record signing Nicolas Pepe, who is in currently in talks with Nice, in order to facilitate the move.
The report also adds that the Gunners have been in month-long discussions with agent Jorge Mendes over the Portugal international
Mendes, who is Neto’s agent is also held in high-regard by the Wolves hierarchy, although talks with the two clubs are said to have been separate.
Meanwhile, Wolves will be reluctant to sell the 22-year-old this summer, after making it known as the winger also signed a contract extension in March, tying him down until 2027.
It’s thought Wolves want £50million for the Portugal winger – which may price the Gunners will be willing to pay.
Howbeit, Arsenal might still sign a midfielder as Mikel Arteta wants to add a depth to his team especially as a number of names have left this summer transfer window and more could still leave.
Finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley has noted that there is “no limit” to the number and scale of commercial deals that Arsenal can sign.
This is as the Gunners’ renewed sponsorship deal with Japanese entertainment firm Konami.
While speaking exclusively to Football Insider he noted that more funds has emerged from the commercial deal and that could help the North London outfit add more players before the end of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal had last week, extended their partnership with Konami, who are perhaps best known for producing the Pro Evolution Soccer (now rebranded as eFootball) game series.
