Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Mathias Olivera from Getafe in the summer transfer window and have already made a bid for the left-back, according to TMW.
TMW have reported that Arsenal and Benfica are the two clubs most interested in the Uruguay international left-back.
The Gunners are among four clubs who have made bids for Olivera, who is valued at €20 million (£16.97m) by his club Getafe, according to the report.
TMW have added that Napoli had found an agreement with Getafe over a loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent next summer, but the Spanish club want the entire transfer fee for Olivera paid now.
WOULD MATHIAS OLIVERA MAKE ARSENAL BETTER?
In our opinion, Getafe left-back Mathias Olivera would be a good signing for Arsenal and would make the Gunners better.
Now, we know that Kieran Tierney is the number one left-back for Mikel Arteta’s team.
However, the Scotland international left-back has had injury problems and has also been linked with a £50 million transfer to Real Madrid.
Nuno Tavares has not always had the best of times at Arsenal, who need a better back-up left-back.
Olivera scored one goal and gave three assists in 32 La Liga matches for Getafe this season.
The Getafe no. 17 showed his versatility by playing at left-back as well this season.
