Adrian Durham believes Bukayo Saka should consider leaving Arsenal during the summer transfer window.
It is no secret that Saka is one of the most exciting talents in world football right now and is a player that Arsenal believe will help them win some titles in the coming seasons
However – he has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League on a yearly basis and win trophies – something that the Gunners are not ready to hand him just yet.
And after missing out on the top four this season when it was right there for the taking – Talksport host Durham has told Saka that he should consider leaving Arsenal – He said: “Bukayo Saka, for me, has to leave Arsenal for the good of his career.
“He’s 20 years old, this season he’s played 48 games in all competitions, he’s played in all 38 Premier League games, starting 36 of them, and he’s 20 years old.
“This is strikingly similar to Jack Wilshere’s stats in the season that ruined his career, he didn’t play a single game the next year because of injury. They played him too much when he was that age.
“From the middle of last season when he burst onto the scene, they now can’t leave him out, they can’t rotate him, he’s always in the team.
“He’s still young, they’re not looking after him properly. He needs a bit of rest and to be brought out of the team every and then.
“When you think about this summer they’re not going to be able to sign any players in that position because they need two strikers, cover for both full-backs, I think they need another centre back and another central midfielder, so they’re not going to be looking to sign anyone in Bukayo Saka’s position and that means they’ll be thinking that he’ll be in for 38 games again.
“He may well be okay, but heaven forbid if something happens to him.”
Gunners closing in on Jesus deal…
It has again been claimed that Man City star Gabriel Jesus is still keen on signing with Arsenal – and they are confident a five-year deal can be agreed.
Since joining City in 2017, Jesus has been in and out of Pep Guardiola’s team, with the Spaniard often deciding to play without a regular centre-forward.
But towards the end of this season, Jesus enjoyed a run in City’s team and scored in victories over Leeds United and Watford – as Guardiola gave him more of a chance in that starting eleven.
But the arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund means he is likely to be relegated to the bench next term – and he has decided that a move away from the Manchester giants is what he needs.
There has been some suggestions that the fact Arsenal will not be playing in the Champions League next season will mean that they will not be able to complete a transfer deal for Jesus.
However, claim the Gunners remain confident of securing Jesus’ signature and he is still keen to join, despite the prospect of Europa League football.
Discussions between Arsenal’s technical director Edu and Jesus’ representatives are said to go back months, with Arsenal putting in significant groundwork to securing the striker.
The news comes after former Premier League star Kevin Phillips suggested he could be the main man for Arsenal – he said: ‘It’s a big decision for him now.
‘He’s been playing in and around that Champions League spaces for a number of years now, and challenging for the trophy as well.
‘He has been almost a bit-part player for City. You’d imagine that for Arsenal, he would be the first choice.
‘Arsenal haven’t got the Champions League, but he can help them get there.
‘Jesus can be the main man for Arsenal, which can be the most important thing for any player looking to make a move. He will want to play week-in, week-out.’
Arsenal to hijack Chelsea £59M target?
There has been some stunning speculation that Arsenal are trying to hijack Chelsea’s move for Jules Kounde
Kounde has been a big part of Sevilla’s season, starting 31 La Liga games and five Champions League games this season, helping them to secure a top four finish.
He is regarded as one of the finest young central defenders in the game right now and the player that Thomas Tuchel reportedly believes will be the ideal man to replace the departing Antonio Rudiger.
He is talented with the ball at his feet, agile and quick – but At 5’11”, the young international is neither particularly tall nor broad for a central defender – which could cause him some issues in the Premier League
Sevilla president Jose Castro admitted this week the club are ready to sell players to fund new signings after finishing fourth in LaLiga – and it seemed that a move to Chelsea was going to happen – especially as reports claimed that personal terms had been agreed.
However – it has been claimed that Mikel Arteta is trying to get the board to make a move and try to bring the sought after Frenchman to the Emirates.
It has been claimed that Arteta knows that he will need to spend some big money in the transfer window and sign players that will make a real difference to the squad – and Kounde is young enough – good enough – to do just that.
