Barcelona coach Xavi is reportedly set to meet the club’s chiefs in the coming days to make a final decision on his future at the club.
Xavi announced earlier in the year he would step down as first-team coach, and has remained adamant he hasn’t changed his mind, but Joan Laporta, Deco and Rafa Yuste have all said they want him to stay
It now seems like we’re heading towards decision time. ESPN are reporting Xavi hasn’t completely made his mind up yet but will meet the club to talk things through.
One of the major hurdles to Xavi staying seems to be the fact that he wants new signings this summer to strengthen the squad. Barca have already ruled out the possibility of signing big names and it seems any transfers may be difficult due to their financial situation.
It remains to be seen if Xavi is still willing to stay if he can’t bring in new players, but Barca don’t seem to have too many options if he does stick to his guns and walk away.
Hansi Flick was the favorite to take over but those rumors have gone a little quiet, with the latest updates claiming Rafa Marquez is next in line if Xavi calls it a day.
