German boss, Thomas Tuchel, is intrigued by the prospect of managing Manchester United.
The pressure is building on Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager is struggling. Manchester United are on a really poor run of form at the worst possible time, with an FA Cup final now just weeks away.
No doubt the former Ajax boss is fearing for his job, despite the fact he is still fighting for his position, though likely, he’s going to be out of work next month.
The hunt for a replacement could already be underway for all we know. INEOS may have someone in mind to take over. Gareth Southgate has recently been linked, as has Thomas Tuchel.
The German manager currently has Bayern Munich in a Champions League semi-final, though the Bundesliga club did endure a disappointing league campaign this term. He is expected to depart Bavaria once the season ends.
Now, Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on Tuchel’s future, claiming that the 50-year-old manager is ‘tempted’ to take the United job, assuming Ten Hag will be hit with the sack. As things stand, there are no ‘concrete’ discussions between United and Tuchel, though it feels like a genuine possibility.
Managing a club like United is said to be a big goal’ of Tuchel’s, though a return to Chelsea hasn’t been ruled out for the German, either, who believes he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge.

Out of all the managers linked with the United job, Tuchel feels like the best candidate right now. He’s an excellent coach, who has had some success in his young managerial career so far.
I still think his time in the Premier League came too early in his career, while no doubt a second crack at the whip would allow the German a chance to correct his mistakes and prove his worth.
He’s a progressive coach with forward-thinking ideologies. A Tuchel side would certainly play the ‘United way’, though he would need time and money to bring in the right playing personnel.
Sadly, this would mean hitting the reset button again, though I’m not sure for how much longer you can persist with this Ten Hag regime that is clearly failing.
