Chelsea will travel to Real Madrid on Tuesday night for the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals against the La Liga heavyweights.
Last week’s Captains were Azpilicueta and Benzema, but one of them could be out this week.
Real Madrid, however, has the upper hand going into the second leg at home, and with Chelsea likely to push for a possible comeback, thanks to their strong away record so far this season
Cesar Azpilicueta and Romelu Lukaku both missed Chelsea’s recent Premier League win over Southampton, and Tuchel said after the game that Azpilicueta had tested positive for Covid 19 on Friday, and that he is a major doubt against Real Madrid, as is Lukaku, who went out due to a minor injury.
“Since yesterday, Azpi has had a positive Covid test. As a result, I can’t make any predictions.
I have no idea what the restrictions are for traveling and what is going on. First and foremost, we require a negative test. There’s nothing we can do about it except hope and wait.
āRomelu I’m not sure yet. He was in pain and was unable to complete the last training session. He was unavailable today, and the clock is ticking. We’re leaving.
Real Madrid will be without Eder Militao, who drew a yellow card in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, due to suspension.
Following their league triumph against Getafe over the weekend, Ancelotti confirmed that Eden Hazard is still sidelined due to injury.
“We [also] had an issue with Mariano [Diaz] at the last minute.”
“With the exception of [Eder] Militao (who is suspended for the second leg), I believe everyone can play in the Chelsea game, with the exception of [Eden] Hazard, who is recovering from surgery.”
If Chelsea are to win against Madrid on Tuesday, they must find a method to stop Benzema from scoring.
