Mauricio Pochettino has pretty much confirmed that Ian Maatsen will be leaving CHELSEA for Borussia Dortmund on loan this month.
After an impressive pre-season with the club, Mauricio Pochettino gave the young man some much needed game time in the early stages of the season, and gave him an opportunity to prove himself.
However – over the past few months the Dutchman has found it really hard to get the minutes that he had been hoping for and has spent much of his time watching from the sidelines.
That has led to all sorts of speculation in the media that he may look to leave the club in the January window, either on loan or on a permanent basis, as he seeks to take his career to that next level.
Maatsen has been limited to just 201 minutes in the Premier League and will be hoping to earn regular game time at Borussia Dortmund, with Pochettino confirming that the defender could soon be on the move from Stamford Bridge
“Well I think it’s obvious that of course he’s not here because he’s in negotiations with [Dortmund],” the Chelsea boss said, after his side’s defeat to Middlesbrough in their Carabao Cup tie. “When something happens, the club will inform.”
