Manchester City face Crystal Palace, as we had Pep Guardiola’s presser. He had a lot of gems with Haaland updates, the match and a Club World Cup update.
Let’s dive in:
On CP
“Always they have been tough games, so it will be a tough game,” he said.
“How they defend is brilliant, they don’t need much. Set pieces with [Joachim] Andersen and the other guys, it will be a tough game.
“It always has been, I don’t remember easy games against Roy Hodgson’s teams, Patrick Vieira neither but especially with Roy.
“The teams are really good, they play incredibly well against Liverpool and unfortunately a player was sent off.
“[When you have] 10 against 11 it’s almost impossible but 11 v 11 I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
On Club World Cup
“He (Haaland) has been for treatment away. Hopefully he can travel to Saudi tomorrow after the game.
“I think he is going to travel with us and after that we will see if he is able to play the first game or the second or when we come back.”
“Sometimes players recover quicker or longer. The doctors say we have to take it day by day, week by week on how he feels.
“At the moment he doesn’t have symptoms or doesn’t feel pain, he will be available to play again.”
On academy
“All the big clubs, the academy is an important part of many things,”
“We see what’s happened in the last five or six years for the players that make a career away with a good transfer for the Club so it’s important to be sustainable financially and economically.
“I know how important it is for fans to see players like Rico, Phil, Micah. To come from seven, eight or nine and then be in the first team is phenomenal.
“Hopefully in the future we can have more players like this.”
“Jack has to demand of himself to score, make assists, win games.
“We know the quality he has to keep the ball and give an extra pass. Hopefully he can take the rhythm as quick as possible because absolutely we need him.”
Let’s get a nice win with no more injuries and set the sights on Saudi for the Club World Cup.
