Champions Manchester City welcome Spurs on Sunday as the blues look to close the gap on leaders Arsenal. The Gunners opened up a four-point lead over City with a 2-1 win over Wolves, and the blues can find themselves in fourth place before they kick off, if both Liverpool and Aston Villa win their matches.
It’s not yet a must-win match for City, however, victory for Spurs will put the other North London side level on points with the mighty blues.
As always, our team are on hand to discuss their gut feelings about the match and offer their predictions against the Spuds.
Saul
Big match at home. Spurs are wounded after dropping three straight, could be dangerous. City will need to be much better than midweek. Still, City’s quality should shine. City win 2-0.
City 2-0 Spurs
Craig
Spurs’ demise has been a bit overblown. They are still playing some good stuff, and being competitive in games. I rate Ange massively. I don’t think he’s a flash in the pan. I do think they’ll bounce back soon and go on a run. I also think they’ll be competitive in this game. But ultimately, they won’t beat Man City at the Etihad, not with the squad depletion issues they have. Should be a good game, and a home win.
City 3-2 Spurs
Thomas
After topping their UCL group midweek, the Champions host Spurs in the Prem. The Spuds have called off after their torrid start, but I still expect the best from Postecoglou’s men. City are still the more talented side, however and I back them at home.
City 3-1 Spurs
Pete
City have only lost twice in this fixtures since 2010 and the omens are generally good. However, the blues had to come back from 2-0 down last season to win 4-2 and hopefully, City won’t give them another two-goal start. Spurs have lost the last three and hopefully, City will make it four on Sunday. It’ll be tough but I can’t see the blues losing. I’d like a win, but I’m going for a draw.
City 2-2 Spurs
How Did We Do in Midweek?
No one got a bang-on prediction against Leipzig, however, with a 4-1 prediction, Craig got the number of goals right, so he gets an extra two points. Dillon got his prediction in just before kick-off and went for a 5-2 win for City – only a couple of goals out though.
