Man United are considering meeting the release clause in Gleison Bremer’s contract.
I’d argue that defence is the first port of call for Manchester United this summer. The Old Trafford club need to get sturdier in that area of the field if they’re serious about trying to move up the league table next term.
Although money is somewhat tight for the Red Devils, the feeling is that funds can be generated through player sales (and letting some leave as free agents). That could offer a little extra room for manoeuvre.
With Raphael Varane likely to go, while the futures of Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are all far from certain, at least one centre-half will be signed. Tosin Adarabioyo’s name has popped up often recently, though we cannot forget about the Gleison Bremer links.
The Daily Mail have provided an update on the future of the Brazilian, claiming that United are still keen on signing the centre-half.
Bremer has emerged as someone who is now an ‘indispensable’ part of Juventus’ defence, while United are now ‘weighing up’ paying the £51.5m release clause in the 27-year-old’s contract this summer.
Although it’d hurt Juventus to let him go, they may have no choice due to the aforementioned clause, which comes into effect this summer.
Obviously, the Old Lady would prefer to keep ahold of the star who single-handedly makes the Juventus back line a well-oiled machine. It goes without saying, United would love someone like that on their books.
Bremer is someone who’d walk straight into the United XI as soon as he walks through the entrance door. However, the Reds may have a problem in convincing the defender that a move to the Theatre of Dreams is the best option for him at this stage of his career. Let’s be honest, there’s a major rebuilding job going on in Manchester. Will he want to be a part of that?
