Man United are looking to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace this summer.
As a Manchester United supporter, I am patiently waiting for the summer transfer window, purely to see exactly how the Red Devils plan to play it out. With INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe now in charge, we’re all expecting a positive first impression, as the English businessman looks to carry his boyhood club forward.
A definitive transfer strategy has to be put in place, rather than just throwing money around in the hope that some signings stick. As we gear up to the transfer period, the rumours are ramping up. One name that consistently seems to keep popping up is Michael Olise.
The Crystal Palace winger has endured an injury-hit season, though over the last eighteen months, his talents have been there for all to see. According to TEAMtalk, per Fussball News, United want to sign the 22-year-old Premier League player.
The article itself details Liverpool and United interest in Johan Bakayoko, though the Red Devils prefer Olise, hence, our North West rivals are also happy as they could have a free run at Bakayoko.
Although Olise will cost around £15m more than Bakayoko (£60m in total), the Reds want to acquire the ‘best in class’ British players, presumably as Ratcliffe looks to restore a homegrown feel to the Red Devils.
The INEOS owner believes Olise would be ‘worth every penny’ despite the lofty price tag, proving himself as a consistent performer, whereas Bakayoko would need time to settle in.
I do somewhat worry about Olise’s injury issues this term. The last thing United need is to spend big money on another player who’ll always pick up niggling injury issues, so let’s just hope it’s a case of some bad luck in that regard.
