Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made excellent signings recently, with the acquisitions of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Ibrahima Konate all smart moves that have strengthened the team without breaking the bank.
The players have contributed equally to the squad and given Liverpool a higher level of strength in depth, which has allowed the manager to rotate his side without lowering quality.
With Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all set to turn 30 or nearing it, then Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp must find adequate replacements for the three attackers.
Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo is one of the club’s targets, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport. The Italian’s contract expires in 2024, but there have been claims that he could make a summer exit from the Stadio Olimpico.
Nicolo Zaniolo has reportedly been scouted by Liverpool and could cost the club €70m (£59m) when he eventually makes his way to Anfield.
The £75,000-per-week star has scored seven times in 39 matches in all competitions this season, as well as providing eight assists. Although not a spectacular return for a forward, he is nonetheless held in high esteem.
Cristiano Masitto, a former coach of the Fiorentina under-17 team, described the forward as “ingenious” and “a game-changer.”
Young Zaniolo’s move to Liverpool would allow him to develop at his own pace, rather than thrusting the hopes and dreams of the side on his shoulders all at once. He could form a formidable partnership with fellow forward Diaz, who has enjoyed an impressive start at Anfield on the left flank – the same position that Zaniolo typically lines up in for Roma.
The Italian youngster could learn from Salah and Mane, two of the team’s current star players. His pacey running style is similar to the Egyptian’s, and their understanding can only improve his own game.
With nine caps at international level already, he is already backed by a manager who loves to give young players chances. He could be the ideal long-term successor to Salah as Liverpool’s right-sided attacking dynamo.
