Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez is making a good recovery from injury and could be back in time for the team’s next fixture.
Martinez has been ruled out of action with with a hamstring problem picked up in the win over Atletico Madrid at the start of the month.
Diario AS have a fresh update on the center-back and reckon he could be fit to face Las Palmas on January 4 in Barca’s first game of 2024.
The club’s real objective is to have Martinez available for the Spanish Super Cup, but there is a chance he could get the green light to return before then.
Barcelona face Osasuna in the semi-finals of the tournament on January 11 in Saudi Arabia, with the winner set to play either Real Madrid or Atletico in the final.
Martinez’s return will give Xavi another option in central defense along with Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde.
Defense has been a weakness for Barca this season, with the team having already conceded 21 times in La Liga, something that must improve if Xavi’s side is to enjoy success this season.
