Harry Amass could be in line for his first appearance in a senior Man United squad. And against Liverpool of all clubs…
Manchester United have always placed trust in youth. Erik ten Hag has promoted both Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho to the first-team due to their sheer talent over the last twelve months.
However, the gaffer’s hand is now starting to be forced. Injuries mean Willy Kambwala is likely to start at the heart of defence against Liverpool, while it also could mean further promotions, including one for young Harry Amass.
The left-back has been impressing at youth level this term, making a real name for himself and earning some training sessions with the senior squad as a result.
However, Academy Scoop, who are usually spot on with United stories, have made another bold claim. They reckon the United youngster has a ‘strong chance’ at being given his first senior United call-up today, when the Reds take on Liverpool.

The teenager was not involved in youth training on Friday, instead, working with the senior team as they gear up for this massive fixture against their greatest enemy.
Amass is highly thought of at Old Trafford, while full-back injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia mean he’s technically the only fit and available left-back at the club right now…
I highly doubt Amass will be thrown straight in at the deep end here, particularly if Diogo Dalot is fit as he can play out there. However, it’s a nod to his ability if he’s included in the match day squad.
You suspect this is a show of real faith from Ten Hag, with a view to Amass being involved in this summer’s pre-season tour of the United States.
