The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens safety DeShon Elliott and are close to signing him on a one-year deal, Praizsports understands.
The 25-year-old Elliott, a sixth-round draft pick of the Ravens in 2018, played just six games last season due to a torn biceps/pectoral injury.
Over the previous season, however, he had performed well, making 16 starts and recording 80 tackles.
DeShon Elliott heads to Detroit on a one-year, prove-it deal, giving the Lions a potential boost as they build toward building a winner. More experienced than his counterpart, he comes from a Ravens club accustomed to winning.
Elliott, the 58th-ranked free agent in NFL.com’s top 101 list of 2022, is likely to team up with Tracy Walker at the safety spots in the Detroit defensive backfield.
Losing Elliott to injury last season was a major blow to the Ravens, but signing him might well be a major boon to the Lions.
