Thomas Frank admitted long-term CHELSEA target David Raya could still leave Brentford this summer.
It is no secret that the club are worried about the goalkeeper situation, with Edouard Mendy now moved out of the club and Kepa a man that is too inconsistent to be the regular number one.
And that has led to reports in the media that Raya is a man that the club are very much interested in after a stunning season for Brentford. And recent reports on the Goal website have claimed that he is one player that Mauricio Pochettino has demanded to be signed.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
The Bees completed a deal to sign Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken for £11m earlier in the window so are covered if a deal to allow Raya to leave is concluded. Brentford have an asking price of £40m for Raya.
Frank said: “Yes, it’s been the talk of the town for the last three months so that could happen.”
SHOULD CHELSEA SIGN RAYA?
Raya is a very impressive stopper that has been very good this season – but is he really better than what the club have at the club? Is he really worth the £40 million that is being talked about.
There are better stoppers out there – ones that have already played at the very highest level of the game.
So even though there is alot of hype surrounding the Spaniard – we feel that he is not the man that would improve what we currently have and it could just be a waste of money if we signed him.
