Robert Lewandowski has been the driving force in the Barcelona attack since his surprise move in the summer.
The Poland maestro left Bayern Munich, where he made 375 appearances and scored 344 goals, making him the highest goal scorer in the club’s history.
He also broke the Bundesliga record of most goals in a single campaign, surpassing Gerd Muller with 40 goals.
The 34-year-old is enjoying a great spell with the Catalan side, having scored 9 back-to-back goals in 6 matches in all competitions.
The striker became the first player in the 21st Century to score 6 goals in his first 5 la liga matches.
With 6 goals already in the league, Lewandowski sits at the top of the goalscoring chart, 3 higher than last season’s golden boot winner: Karim Benzema.
The Frenchman capped off his best league season with 27 goals and 12 assists in 32 games, earning him the prestigious award.
This was the first time the award was given to a player that was not Lionel Messi since Luis Suarez won it in the 2015/2016 season.
However, Benzema’s season hasn’t really gotten to a brilliant start, as he has been sidelined with a knee injury, an injury he sustained against Celtic in the champions league.
With the forward out of the way for a while, this could be the chance for Lewy to capitalise and secure his position at the top, tho he will have to fend off other challengers like Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas and Real Betis’s Borja Iglesias.
