Thomas Frank expects CHELSEA target Ivan Toney will still be a Brentford player come the end of the January transfer window.
Despite not being part of that Brentford squad this season because he has been banned – there has been alot of transfer talk regarding the long-term future of Ivan Toney, who is one of the best in the Premier League.
Toney netted 20 Premier League goals last season with Brentford’s asking price ranging from £80million to £100million, as he is considered to be one of the best strikers in the English top-flight.
Toney is still serving an eight-month ban for betting breaches but has returned to first-team training and will be free to play again on 17 January.
Now – amid all the speculation and rumours, Frank has opened up and sent a clear message heading into the January window next month: ‘I don’t want to lose him. I hope, and think, he’ll be a Brentford player on February 1,’ Frank told The Standard.
‘Everyone saw what he did last year. It’s not like he broke a leg or did his ACL, so he’s fit and probably even more ambitious to get success. I’m convinced he will be absolutely on it.’
IcChelseanews Opinion –
If Toney wants to be considered one of the best strikers in the game, then he needs to make a move to a bigger club. Brentford are a quality side, but they will never play Champions League football or win a trophy.
But we would be surprised to see him leave the Bees in January.
