Erik ten Hag is ready to let Facundo Pellistri leave Man United, amid interest from Villareal.
The January transfer window is expected to be a quiet one for Manchester United in terms of incomings. Erik ten Hag doesn’t have a big budget to spend due to FFP restrictions, while Sir Jim Ratcliffe is unlikely to want to splash the cash before he completes his full evaluation of the club.
Outgoings may well happen, though. United play fewer games between now and the end of the season due to being dumped out of Europe. The gaffer could look to use this opportunity to move on from some fringe guys – including Facundo Pellistri…
It’s The Sun with the latest information on that front. They claim that Ten Hag is willing to sell the 22-year-old United winger, amid interest from Villareal.
Pellistri hasn’t started since September, being unable to take an opportunity that was there for the man from Uruguay. United have been decimated out wide since the start of the season, and yet Pellistri hasn’t been trusted to start games with regularity.
With Amad now fit, the ex-Penarol man is seemingly set to slip even further down the pecking order.
I’m a big fan of Pellistri as an impact player off the bench late in games, but I do wonder whether the man from Uruguay is capable of producing those levels for a complete 90 minutes. He’s 22 now and by this point, you’d like to see more consistency from him. Sadly, that just hasn’t quite happened.
If the right offer comes in from Villareal, it would make sense to cash in now, getting a decent chunk of money that can be re-invested into the squad, while freeing up some wages, albeit only a small amount.
