Tottenham Hotspur suffered their first league defeat of the season, losing 3-1 at bitter rivals Arsenal on Saturday. On paper, it was Spurs’ toughest test of the season so far, and they couldn’t live with Mikel Arteta’s table-toppers.
Antonio Conte’s side are now four points behind the Gunners, who lead the way with seven wins from their first eight matches. Conte will be looking for a reaction from his players after being comfortably dispatched by their rivals.
Here, football.london take a look at Spurs’ next six league fixtures and compare them to Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea.
Brighton (A) – October 8
Roberto De Zerbi’s start to life at Brighton was anything but boring. The Italian head coach has big shoes to fill after replacing Graham Potter, but he started with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Spurs are the visitors for De Zerbi’s first home in charge of the Seagulls.

Spurs won 2-0 at the AMEX in March, with goals from Christian Romero and Harry Kane securing the victory.
Everton (H) – October 15
A few weeks ago, this may have had home win written all over it, but Frank Lampard’s Everton are quietly going about their business this season. The Toffees have the second best defensive record in the division, with just seven goals conceded in eight games, and just two defeats all season.
However, Lampard didn’t enjoy his last visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Spurs running riot in a 5-0 win over Everton in March.
Manchester United (A) – October 19
The Red Devils have bounced back from their poor start to the season and look to be genuine top four contenders. United have already recorded wins against Liverpool and table-topping Arsenal this term, and they’ll be looking to add Spurs to their list.
Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick in United’s 3-2 win over Spurs at Old Trafford in March.
Newcastle (H) – October 23
Eddie Howe’s side have only lost one game so far, with many tipping the Magpies to have an impressive campaign due to the backing Howe received in the transfer market. Spurs were utterly dominant in a 5-1 win over the Magpies in April, however.
Bournemouth (A) – October 30
The Cherries are proving to be no pushovers under interim boss Gary O’Neil, with the Dorset club unbeaten in four games since Scott Parker was sacked at the end of August. Bournemouth have only lost two of their eight league games and those loses were to Arsenal and Liverpool.
A trip to the Vitality Stadium at the end of October will be Tottenham’s first there in over two years, where they last drew 0-0 while failing to register a shot on target.
Liverpool (H) – November 6
A game against Liverpool is never easy, but Jurgen Klopp’s side are failing to hit the heights they have shown in previous campaigns. The Reds have won just twice this season and have dropped points to the likes of Fulham, Crystal Palace and Everton.
Last season’s clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Arsenal’s next six fixtures:
Liverpool (H) – October 9
Leeds (A) – October 16
Southampton (A) – October 23
Nottingham Forest (H) – October 30
Chelsea (A) – November 6
Wolves (A) – November 12
Chelsea’s next six fixtures:
Wolves (H) – October 8
Aston Villa (A) – October 16
Brentford (A) – October 19
Manchester United (H) – October 22
Brighton (A) – October 29
Arsenal (H) – November 6
Man United’s next six fixtures
Manchester City (A) – October 2
Everton (A) – October 9
Newcastle (H) – October 16
Tottenham (H) – October 19
Chelsea (A) – October 22
West Ham (H) – October 30
