Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed –
Arsenal are reportedly willing to sell CHELSEA target Emile Smith Rowe this week.
The 23-year-old has not been a regular starter under manager Mikel Arteta after the Spanish boss spent some serious money improving that area of the squad over the last couple of transfer windows.
And that has led to many reports in the media that Smith Rowe is a player that could be departing the club in the coming days, as the Gunners look to recoup some of that £200 million they have spent this summer.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
We are one of the clubs interested in bringing in the midfielder while The Times now reports he has been offered to another unnamed Premier League side.
Mauricio Pochettino has commented on whether the club will be doing any more business before the transfer window closes on Friday.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the clubs’ Carabao Cup clash against Wimbledon, Pochettino admitted: “I don’t know to be honest.
“In the last few days we are so focused on trying to recover the player and the Carabao Cup against Wimbledon.
“I know the club is working very hard to try to finish our business, Something may happen, maybe yes.
“At the moment, only working and trying the club to deliver what we want.”
If Smith Rowe is not good enough for Arsenal? why do the board believe that he is good enough to make a move to Stamford Bridge.
We already have enough players like him in the side.
PETROVIC CLAIM MADE –
Kevin Hitchcock has opened up and told CHELSEA fans that new summer signing Djorde Petrovic is ready to make an impact at the club.
After weeks of speculation and rumours – it was announced at the weekend the club have signed Petrovic on a deal worth £14 million – on a massive seven-year contract.
Hitchcock played a key role in Petrovic moving to New England, and the goalkeeper coach has opened up and told the Blues fans that the stopper is a player that the Matthew Harding end will love.
Petrovic entered the 2023 campaign as New England’s undisputed No.1 goalkeeper. He was also selected for the MLS All-Star game, which saw our new stopper come up against Premier League opposition in Arsenal in Washington D.C.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
‘It is a challenge he will be ready for,’ says Hitchcock. ‘He will settle quickly. There may be a few nerves at the beginning and that’s to be expected. But once he gets his feet under the table, he won’t look back.
‘He will go to England ready-made. He can speak well, is good at communicating and organising players in the penalty area so they know what he wants.’
Hitchcock’s time at Chelsea lasted between 1988 and 2001. He made more than 130 appearances for the club and was part of squads that won both domestic and European honours.
‘He knows my background and knows CHELSEA is a big love of my life,’ Hitchcock says. ‘I spent 13 years at the club as a player and they are, as a player, probably the greatest 13 years of my life.
‘So for him to go to my club, it is absolutely fantastic. He has all the tools to deal with everything that will come at him. I guarantee the Matthew Harding will love him.’
CUCURELLA DEAL CLOSE –
Manchester United are ‘very close’ to sealing a move for CHELSEA defender Marc Cucurella, according to reports in Spain.
After establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League during his time with Brighton – the club made the move to bring him to Stamford Bridge in a deal that was worth £50 million.
There was alot of hype surrounding the player and his ability – but he has failed to leave a mark on that Chelsea side and According to a recent report on Spanish newspaper Marca, that has prompted the board to try and cut their losses on the defender and it is claimed that he was offered to Atletico Madrid.
However – a move to Spain never happened as he wanted to stay at the Blues this summer and fight for his place in the side – but it now seems that he could be set for a more after all.
WHAT IS THE LATEST –
United made an informal approach for Cucurella on Saturday and Marca say the Spaniard is now close to completing a loan switch to Old Trafford.
The club are likely to demand an upfront fee, plus full covering of Cucurella’s wages in order for him to move to the north-west.
The defender is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford following a frustrating 12 months in west London.
SHOULD CUCURELLA STAY AND FIGHT FOR HIS PLACE?
Cucurella was never going to be number one at Stamford Bridge – he was only signed because Ben Chilwell kept getting injured – so he was going to have to get used to sitting on the bench.
We would love him to stay and fight for his place, but can understand why he wants to leave.
