Sergio Romero is reported to have his heart set on a return to Manchester United this summer, just one year after leaving the club.
Manchester United are in the market for a new back-up goalkeeper in the transfer window ahead of Dean Henderson’s proposed loan move to Nottingham Forest. The 35-year-old Argentine shot-stopper is a free agent following a spell with Italian side Venezia, who at the end of their first season back in Serie A after 19 years were relegated.
A source close to the player claims that Romero still loves the club and that “he would always come back” if an offer was made for him.
Sergio Romero was not part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans and was often forced to train alone during his final season at United, before leaving on a free transfer after falling down the pecking order behind English goalkeeper, Dean Henderson.
The Argentine’s last appearance for Manchester United came in August 2020 in the quarter-finals of the Europa League against FC Copenhagen.
