Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris received a generous offer from the club before leaving
Lloris accumulated 444 appearances for Spurs following his arrival from Lyon in 2012. He stayed at Tottenham for the initial part of the season before finalising the move to LA. Surprisingly, Levy permitted Lloris to depart without any transfer fee, even though he still had six months remaining on his contract.
Lloris played his last game for Tottenham in April of last year which finished in a devastating 6-1 loss to Newcastle. Ange Postecoglou has dropped him from the squad since taking over the job and he failed to return to the starting XI.

The Frenchman’s impact on Spurs will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy as an iconic figure. However, it was about time for him to explore new opportunities elsewhere. Last season, Lloris faced some challenges and as a result, he was replaced by new signing Guglielmo Vicario during the summer.
We greatly appreciate the Frenchman’s dedication to remaining at Spurs until a suitable replacement was identified. He clearly understood that the opportune moment for a new challenge had come, particularly given Vicario’s remarkable displays.
Although he did not receive his full contract payment, reports suggest that the club chief offered him a substantial majority of what he was owed, which can be considered quite generous. It feels good that the club were able to reach an amicable departure with a legend of the game.
Ange Postecoglou’s tactical mindset can’t be questioned since the club has shown positive results at least in the first half of the campaign.
Postecoglou hasn’t been with Spurs for as long, but he has successfully transformed the squad and the playing style, leaving behind both the Mauricio Pochettino era and the years of defensive counter-attacking football that came after. With his expert guidance, the team has successfully navigated through a challenging injury crisis and currently sit in fifth place, a mere two points behind the top four. He has completely changed the atmosphere and culture of the place, quickly bringing together players, fans, and the club in a way that has exceeded expectations.
