Mikel Arteta Realizes ‘Biggest Mistake’ As Brendan Rodgers Prepare £25M Arsenal Bid
Arsenal are experiencing a successful season, with the Gunners flying high under the influence of Mikel Arteta.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville criticized Mikel Arteta’s precarious position at the club in the past, but has recently made public his admiration for what Arsenal have done this season.
Despite being a challenge at first, things have begun to look up for Mikel Arteta and his work as a manager of Arsenal.
Now ask anyone at the Emirates how things have been going since his arrival and they might just tell you that the club is finally beginning to get back on track.
Although Arsenal placed 8th in the Premier League last season, the team is still somehow very much in contention to get a top four finish this season.
As of now, 3 other teams- Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool round off the top four teams and all of them bar Chelsea have played more games than Arsenal.
Although it’s only been several games, the new look Arsenal does seem to provide some glimmers of hope for the years to come.
“The Mikel Arteta team looks more rigid, more solid but it’s a bit boring and they’ve got to get that out.
You can’t bore,” Gary Neville declared in December 2020, speaking on his Sky Sports podcast amid calls for the Spaniard to be sacked.
“I used to say that here [at Manchester United]. You can win, you can lose, you can’t be bored coming to Old Trafford.
“I think most fans are the same, they can watch the team win, they can watch the team draw and they can watch the team lose but they won’t accept being bored.
“And to me the Arsenal players at this moment in time look a little bored and the football they are producing looks like a real struggle.”
Arsenal put in a brilliant performance to beat Leicester City 2-0 on Sunday. They racked up 21 shots against a side who hadn’t conceded in three games and broke the deadlock just 11 minutes through Thomas Partey’s rocket header.
The cheers of the Arsenal supporters, who have watched their team romp to a fifth successive win in the Premier League, grew even louder when Alexandre Lacazette took it upon himself to score from the penalty spot cementing that gunners win.
Meanwhile, Praizsports understands that Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers plans to sign Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney this summer (2022).
The Leicester manager is an admirer of Tierney from the time they worked together at Celtic. He wanted to sign Tierney from Arsenal in 2020, but he could not.
Although Leicester are certainly interested in pursuing Tierney, taking into account his current contract situation, Arsenal will remain part of the conversation if they show any willingness to sell him.
They seem reluctant to do so currently but that could change and Rodgers will be on hand with a bid if it does.
Real Madrid are reportedly also interested in the Scottish left back who moved to Arsenal from Celtic for £25M in the summer of 2019.
Our thoughts
We don’t foresee Tierney going to Leicester this summer. He has established himself as a key player in the Arsenal team and is among the best left-backs in the Premier League.
In our view, there’s no reason for him to even consider leaving Arsenal for Leicester at this point.
