The Kylian Mbappe story is likely to come to an end, as he is set to sign a new contract with Paris-Saint Germain that will keep him at the club indefinitely.
According to sources close to the matter, Mbappe notified Real Madrid president Florentino Perez of his choice.
It’s the second time Mbappe has turned down Real Madrid, after leaving Monaco for PSG in 2017, and it’s not the end Real Madrid hoped for.
Last Monday, Real Madrid and Mbappe struck an agreement on the conditions of his contract. This featured, among other things, a signing bonus of 130 million euros, complete control of the image rights, and a highly favorable contract.
However, despite being continuously surrounded by political pressure from Qatar and France, Mbappe and his team continued to listen to PSG at all times.
“It’s the most difficult decision he’s ever made,” those close to him explained.
The French organization has provided him with all he has requested, including a large number of money; nonetheless, the most essential part has been the sporting side.
Mbappe will have a voice and will be heard at PSG, where he will have a say in the appointment of a new sporting director as well as the next coach.
The 23-year-old will also have a voice in recruiting to help the team win its first Champions League.
Doubts over Mbappe since Friday
On Friday, Real Madrid’s frustration with the situation gave way to doubts as opinions inside and outside the club differed and officials at the club’s top mulled harsh steps.
The Spanish club had previously made unprecedented concessions to Mbappe, as well as withdrawing from the race for Erling Haaland.
However, it is not enough to sign Mbappe, as PSG has acquired him and will hold a celebration on Saturday night.
