Man United are going to have to cope without Mason Mount for up to six weeks, with his injury worse than first feared.

Manchester United Football Club just cannot catch a break at the moment. The Old Trafford side have flattered to deceive in their first two games, while the injury problems continue to mount. Pun not intended.

There was news on the Reds’ new midfielder yesterday, claiming that the Englishman was set to miss the next two games due to injury.

However, last night, The Telegraph offered a further update, suggesting that the problem is worse than first initially feared.

According to the usually reliable James Ducker, the 24-year-old United star is set to be out injured for up to six weeks, while that absence comes with transfer repercussions for Scott McTominay, who is now looking likelier than ever to remain at the club beyond the summer.

Mount was probably United’s best outfield player against Spurs, due to his pressing and desire. Now, United are going to have to cope without him for at least the next four matches. Possibly as many as eight.

The fact that there’s an international break in the middle somewhat eases the blow, though it’s still going to be harder without the ex-Chelsea man available.

It will mean more minutes for the likes of the aforementioned McTominay, while Christian Eriksen will now see the field with increasing regularity.

Honestly, I’m just gutted for Mount. He has already come in for some unfair stick from the Old Trafford support and now, he’s going to just have to sit there unable to answer those doubters.

I fully believe that in a month or so, Mount will come back even stronger.

Get well soon, Mase!
