Jurgen Klopp line up £30 million bid for midfielder who has been likened to Yaya Touré
According to Voetbal International (via Sport Witness), Liverpool have joined the race to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.
Other Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa, Leicester City and Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in signing the 24-year-old.
After scoring two goals and providing five assists in 86 appearances for Toulouse since joining the French club in September 2020, the midfielder joined his current club this January.
Since joining PSV, the Ivory Coast international has gone on to make 87 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and supplying six assists.
He has played more minutes than any other PSV player this term with 29 league appearances, showing how important he has been to the Eredivisie giants.
African journalist Alpha Balde likened the 24 year old to two of the Premier League’s most decorated midfielders of yesteryear, saying, “Physically, he’s like Yaya Toure but he reminds me of Michael Essien.”
Sangare’s former Toulouse manager, Alain Casanova, called the Ivorian midfielder a “complete” player who is “calm in small spaces and comes out of pressure in incredible ways.”
Casanova also noted that the PSV midfielder has “a great ability to recover the ball and does a huge amount of running.”
A move for the midfielder to Liverpool could end up being good business for the club, as it would strengthen a squad which is already one of the best in the world.
