‘It’s very exciting. When you look back on last season and the way the team performed – not just the results, but the performances the team were putting in – it was amazing.
‘There’s so many talented players and we’ve got the Champions League now as well so there’s many different competitions that I know the team will be wanting to do well in, and hopefully get a trophy or two as well.’
Magpies boss Eddie Howe added: ‘I’m delighted to welcome Lewis to Newcastle United.
‘He is a player we have tracked closely, as have a number of clubs, so it’s very pleasing to secure him and to add a player of his quality, versatility and high potential to our squad.
‘I’d like to thank everyone involved for their tireless work to bring in the players we have.
‘A lot of time, effort and resource goes into a transfer window, but we have a real togetherness at all levels here and I appreciate that teamwork and support.’
CHELSEA TOLD TO REPLACE SANCHEZ –
Pundit Jamie Carragher has opened up and claimed that CHELSEA already need to replace one of their summer signings.
Once again this summer window – the board have been splashing the cash like there is no tomorrow and signed a number of players that they hope will help challenge for titles.
Mauricio Pochettino has also been brought to the club in order to help the club achieve their goals – but he has been unable to pick up his first win as boss of the club.
And despite their mammoth outlay, Carragher still feels the club are missing several key components – including a goalkeeper despite spending £25m on Robert Sanchez this month.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
Speaking on Sky Sports, the former Liverpool defender explained: ‘I think what you’d say about Chelsea in these first two games, disappointing results for them, but they’ve actually impressed in terms of how they played against Liverpool and I thought they played well at West Ham.
‘But I do feel when you spend that amount of money, it does feel strange when – we’re all asked before the start of the season [for predictions] – not many people are putting CHELSEA in the top four.
‘Now we’re not all great tipsters, so it doesn’t mean they won’t finish there, but not many people are thinking that squad, with that much money spent on it, will finish in the top four.
‘And that doesn’t seem right to me, because that is an unbelievable amount of money.
‘And I do feel, even though I’ve been really impressed with them in the first two games, if you asked me how many players they need to challenge Manchester City – I’m not talking about winning the league – I still think they need a new goalkeeper even though they’ve just signed Sanchez.
‘I think they probably still need another top centre-half because Thiago Silva is 38.
‘I don’t think there’s a real out-and-out goalscorer. Your goalscorer doesn’t have to be your centre-forward, Liverpool’s is Mohamed Salah who plays on the right wing so it’s not a dig at Nicolas Jackson.
‘He’s only just come into the club and I’ve been impressed with him.
‘But you think of those really important decisions, it still feels like four players, four top players, would need to go into that team just to challenge Manchester City and that doesn’t feel right when you consider the amount of money that they’ve spent.’
FANS TOLD EXCITING SIGNING ON WAY –
CHELSEA are likely to see another exciting addition make the move to Stamford Bridge this summer, journalist Dean Jones has claimed
Once again this transfer window – the club have been the biggest spenders and have managed to bring in the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Robert Sanchez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to name a few.
However – Mauricio Pochettino is still keen to add some more players to the side – and now Jones has opened up and claimed that the board are expected to bring in another exciting signing.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “Chelsea’s interest in Bradley Barcola is interesting as this is a player that has been hitting the radar of big Champions League clubs for some time. He’s been causing a stir as he made his first steps into senior football and both AC Milan and Manchester City have had temptations in terms of snapping him up before now.
“He’s right on brand for CHELSEA. He hits the spot in terms of talent identification, age profiling and sell-on potential if things don’t work out.
“It’s different from signing Michael Olise because he doesn’t have that same guarantee of stepping into the Premier League this season and being able to do it but – to be fair – nor do some of their other targets.
“Mohammed Kudus, Rayan Cherki – they are both amazing players but would still come with a certain amount of risk if they land in the Premier League this summer.
‘Chelsea also have Brennan Johnson and Jeremy Doku potentially on their list so whatever happens, whoever it is, it feels like another exciting addition is on the way soon.”
