‘Dazzling performance’: £12m man shines in Europa League final, Tottenham wants to sign him
Eintracht Frankfurt won the Europa League last night after winning 5-4 on penalties.
After a great run in the competition, it was only fitting that Frankfurt were crowned champions. Rangers had an impressive run as well, but Frankfurt proved to be the better team on this occasion.
Reported Tottenham Hotspur target, Filip Kostic was instrumental in helping his side to glory as the German outfit won the Europa League final to lift the prestigious title. He was incredible for them and was even labeled the ‘best player on the pitch.’
Tottenham target Kostic shone in the Europa League final
The match between Rangers and Frankfurt was a tight affair, with the two teams unable to be separated after 120 minutes of football. However, one player who truly stood out for Frankfurt was Kostic.
The wing-back started and had an impressive display. He attempted 20 crosses and 11 long balls (SofaScore). He also came close to scoring the opening goal in the first half when his shot just missed the target.
After the penalty kick by Aaron Ramsey was saved, the pressure was on Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic to score and give his side the win. He did just that, and helped the German outfit win the Europa League. TalkSPORT commentator Charlie Adam called him “the best player on the pitch” last night, a statement we fully agree with.
Spurs can sign him for just £12m
Spurs have been linked with a move for Kostic for several weeks. After watching him against rangers last night, we understand why. Antonio Conte’s system heavily relies on wing-backs. Tottenham currently have Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon on the left but both have been struggling of late. It could be time for Conte to move for an upgrade.
The 29 year old has scored seven goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions this season and would be an excellent addition to Conte’s squad. He would fit perfectly into the team’s offensive system, while also being able to fulfill his role in defense.
This summer, the Serbian will enter the final year of his contract with Frankfurt and reports revealed that the German club is willing to sell him for just over £12 million. Tottenham would be getting a bargain if they are able to acquire his services.
