Brighton have signed Belgium international Nicky Evrard on a season-long loan from CHELSEA.
The Belgian, 28, joined us in July from OH Leuven on a three-year deal but i not considered to be part of the immediate plans at the Blues under boss Emma Hayes and the decision was made to send her out on loan for the season.
Evrard is one of five goalkeepers on the clubs books and is the second to head out on loan this summer after Emily Orman joined Reading.
“Nicky is a fantastic addition to the squad,” said Brighton boss Melissa Phillips.
“She has been a standout performer at club level in Belgium, as well as on the international stage at both last year’s Euros and the World Cup earlier this year.
“We’re excited to work with her and give her the opportunity to test herself in the WSL.”
Evrard has made 63 appearances for Belgium and was part of the squad who reached the Euro 2022 quarter-finals.
The club posted on the club website: ‘An experienced goalkeeper at domestic and international level, Evrard will spend the forthcoming 2023/24 season competing in the WSL with Melissa Phillips and her Brighton side.
‘Everyone at CHELSEA would like to wish Nicky every success during her time on the South Coast.’
