Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news and gossip from us that we think you guys may have missed –
CHELSEA did hold talks with the agents of Arsenal star Folarin Balogun, Italian Fabrizio Romano has admitted.
The club have been in the market for a new striker all summer long and even Mauricio Pochettino has come out and admitted that he wants to bring in another forward by the end of the transfer window.
That has led to many reports in the media that Balogun is a player that we have been very interested in signing over the past few weeks, ever since the decision was made by Arsenal to allow him to depart the club.
The young striker netted an impressive 22 goals last season for Reims – but could not be guaranteed the game time that he wants this season – and has opted to leave in order to forge a career away from the Emirates.
However – despite the fact that the club were keen – he is now on his way to Monaco after they agreed a fee and though transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has exclusively revealed the board did hold talks, the formality and the contents of the discussion were just that.
WHAT HAS BEEN SAID –
Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “With Chelsea, honestly, I have many questions these days. But the reality from what I heard is that during the meetings, they had CHELSEA and agents of Folarin Balogun present.
“But those meetings were for Romeo Lavia. They had the opportunity to discuss also about Balgoun, I think that’s something very normal in football. When you meet an important agent with many clients, it’s normal to ask about many players, their situation, the cost, and the status of negotiations.”
He is not ready to lead the attack – and it could be a blessing in disguise for the young man.
CAICEDO CLAIM MADE –
Blues defender Levi Colwill has told CHELSEA fans that Moises Caiceco was worth every penny that Chelsea spent.
Caicedo has been the talk of the transfer window for the club over the past few months – as they simply could not agree a deal with Brighton to bring him to London.
However – after seeing Liverpool make a move to try and get a deal done – the board finally gave into the transfer demands of Brighton and agreed a massive £115 million fee for Caicedo.
He made his debut against West Ham last weekend – although it wasn’t the best start to his new life as he looked well off the pace and a little slow, especially when he gave the penalty away for West Ham to make it 3-1.
However in his full debut for side against Luton Town – he looked like a totally different player and a man that is out to prove that he is good enough to be a regular starter in that Blues side.
Now – Colwill has told fans that Caicedo was worth every penny that the club spent.
The pair were team-mates at Brighton last season and have now reconnected at Stamford Bridge following the Ecuadorian’s recent transfer.
He told the club website: ‘Playing with him last season you just rely on him,’ said the 20-year-old.
‘Even when I know I have made a mistake, I have always known he is there to cover me in midfield. Some of the passes I gave to him [last season] were terrible and he still saved me and made me look good!
‘I think anyone that watched him last season knows how good a player he is,’ added Colwill.
‘In my opinion, he is worth every pound that was spent on him. I think he is going to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and the world. I don’t doubt that.
‘He is a very good player and him in this team alongside the other amazing players we have got, it is going to work well. I am happy he is here.’
BARCOLA WANTED –
Fabrizio Romano has come out and claimed that CHELSEA are very much interested in signing Lyon star Bradley Barcola this summer.
The club have spent some serious money on midfielders and attackers that they hoped would improve the side over the course of the summer – but Mauricio Pochettino is not 100 per cent happy with his squad.
Barcola scored seven goals and added 10 assists in 35 games across all competitions and is considered to be one of the most exciting talents in Ligue 1 right now, with PSG also keen on a transfer deal.
But despite confirming that the club are interested in the lad – Romano has also revealed that Barcola is very keen to make the move to PSG.
What Has Been Said –
On the starlet, Romano said: “It’s true there is interest in a player like Barcola, also because at the moment the deal with PSG is getting complicated and it’s not easy between the two clubs.
“The player wants to go to PSG, but PSG and Lyon have no agreement on the fee and on the structure of the deal, so this is why it’s getting difficult for PSG.”
The board have spent some serious money on players, decent players that have a bright future, but they have not made that statement signing that will get their rivals worried.
Barcola is a very good very good young striker – but is he really good enough to lead the attack – Pochettino wants a certain type of player to add to the squad and we feel he may not get that at this stage of the transfer window.
