Barcelona have reportedly identified the main reason for Alejandro Balde’s drop in form this season after a stunning campaign last time out.
Balde established himself as a regular in the first team last season, above both Marcos Alonso and Jordi Alba, but hasn’t hit the same heights consistently in the current campaign.
Xavi has even preferred to switch Joao Cancelo at left-back at times, with the Portugal international putting in a stellar showing in midweek against Porto.
Tot Costa have been analysing the situation and reckon that Barcelona know what’s bugging Balde this season.
The club believe it’s not a physical issue but more of a mental one. The thinking is that Balde lacks focus and a competitive mentality.
All of which may simply be a question of maturity. Let’s not forget that the defender has only just turned 20 and is very much at the start of his career.
The club are therefore trying to work on ensuring his concentration levels drop don’t during matches and that he can develop a more competitive mentality to full unlock his potential.
