Former Liverpool forward, Stan Collymore has urged Arsenal to sack Mikel Arteta and appoint Patrick Vieira as the club’s new manager.
Collymore believes Vieira, currently the manager of Crystal Palace, has a gift for winning as well as management skills that would more quickly lead to success at Arsenal.
Despite a 3-0 defeat at Selhurst Park, Arsenal are still in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League.
The Gunners have won six of their last eight Premier League matches and share the same point with Tottenham who currently occupies the fourth position.
However, Collymore asserts that Vieira—a former Arsenal midfielder—is more qualified for the position than Arteta.
“Three weeks ago, I waded into Mikel Arteta, saying that Arsenal should sack him and appoint Patrick Vieira. I have been slaughtered by Gunners fans.
“I would just like to take the opportunity to repeat what I said: Vieira is a Premier League beast and a born winner. The route back to the top will be faster with him in charge,” Collymore told the Sunday People (via TBR).
Despite Collymore takes, Arsenal are currently not thinking of sacking Mikel Arteta but will instead back him in the summer and possibly agree on a contract extension.
