Arsenal Set To Hijack £58.5M Tottenham Transfer Target As Edu Hold Concrete Talks With Serie A Giants
CalcioMercato claim that Arsenal have now ‘concretely’ staged talks with the agents of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.
Inter do not want to lose him, but are ready to accept offers in the region of £58.5million for Il Toro.
Martinez, 24, has been sensational for Inter since joining the Nerrazzuri in the summer of 2018. He has already clocked up a huge 171 appearances in all competitions – having a hand in 87 goals, scoring 65 himself.
Alongside Romelu Lukaku and under Antonio Conte last term, Martinez scored 19 and created 11 as Inter won Serie A. This season, he already has 16 goals. Little surprise, then, that clubs are interested in signing him.
Martinez has four years left on his Inter deal but it appears that the striker would be interested in leaving – and Inter will let him go for £58.5million. Inter have lined-up a replacement, in the form of Juve ace Paulo Dybala.
CalcioMercato say Arsenal have spoken to his agents over a move, ‘concretely’ discussing a deal – while Atletico Madrid are also keen. FC Inter 1908 also claim that Spurs have shown interest in signing the striker.
Arsenal In Martinez Talks: Gunners Really Need Tottenham Target
It is no secret that Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are likely to leave Arsenal in June, with their contracts due to expire. The Gunners need a top-tier replacement, one with Champions League quality. Martinez is ideal.
But he should not be the only striker signing. Martinez is not a last-man, no.9 type striker. The Gunners could also do with more of a powerhouse up top, a Dom Calvert-Lewin, for example.
