Arsenal Make Harry Maguire Transfer Decision As Mikel Arteta Look To Strengthen Backline
Arsenal has reportedly expressed interest in signing Manchester United flop, Harry Maguire as Arteta look to strengthen his defense ahead of next season.
The Gunners had a £50million bid for then-Leicester star Harry Maguire rejected in 2019, before Manchester United swooped in to sign the centre-back in an £80m deal.
Make no mistake, eyebrows were raised that United coughed up such a big fee for the defender, but he’s undoubtedly proved his worth in his three years at Old Trafford.
In his first season in the 2019/20 season, he shored up the defence and the Red Devils boasted one of the meanest backlines in the division.
He backed that up with another impressive campaign last term and he also put up an impressive display for England at Euro 2020.
Arsenal are hoping to return to the Champions League, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2017 and therefore they are in need of at least one signing in each position.
Maguire has emerged as a surprising target for the Gunners and Praizsports understands that Arteta has already made his intentions known.
Despite the 29 year woes, he continues to be seen as a top premier league defender and has even been described as ‘undroppable’ in the England squad by Gareth Southgate.
Will Arsenal pull this off? We can only wait and see how this works out but it will indeed be a massive signing for the Gunners.
